The salmon fish is very similar and closely related to the trout. It is said that the salmon migrate while the trout reside. The salmon are born in fresh water, then migrate to the ocean. They also come back to the freshwater stream where they hatched in order to reproduce.
Salmon is the best fish to eat with its tender, slightly oily, reddish orange flesh.
During their mating season you can find this fish in streams and rivers throughout North America and Europe.
The image above shows a salmon that is silver in colour but during the salmons mating season they are bright red.
They feed on small insects, crustaceans, and other fish when they are adults.
